A Challenge and a Contest: Cook Your Covers!

Attention Home Cooks!

How often are you persuaded to buy cookbooks because of the amazingly beautiful dishes presented on the cover?

How often do you actually MAKE that cover recipe once you’ve bought the cookbook?

As I was perusing some of my cookbooks for dinner inspiration yesterday, I thought it would be a great challenge to try to make the recipe on the cover of each of my cookbooks and compare my end result to the masterfully styled rendition on the cover.

I’m not giving myself any kind of end date for this personal challenge, however, I’d like to try all of the recipes over the next several months or so if I can.

Which brings me to my next point….

A challenge for you (with a prize)!

Starting today, I challenge you to try to create some of the recipes featured on the cover of your cookbooks or magazines.

The Rules: 

1.  Using a cookbook or magazine, follow the recipe featured on the cover (or if multiple dishes are presented, choose one of the featured recipes) and create the dish.

2.  Upload a picture of your dish next to the book/magazine cover to my new Facebook page.

3.  Along with your picture tell me, (a) The name of the recipe, (b) The publication you got the recipe from, and (c) your thoughts and reviews of the dish

The Guidelines

Contest will run from February 21, 2012 to April 21, 2012.

Each contestant can upload multiple recipes and reviews, each upload counting as one entry per person.

Choosing a Winner and THE PRIZE

On April 21, 2012 I will take all of the entries and randomly select one person as the winner.

The winner will get a batch of homemade cookies, made by yours truly, delivered or shipped to them.  If the winner has a personal preference, I will try to accommodate that request.

(OK, so it’s not a huge prize, but I promise it will be fun and the cookies will be tasty!)

If you have any questions about the rules, please leave a comment and I will address each question as it comes up.  It’s pretty straightforward though I think.

If you’re not familiar with how to upload on the page, just click in the “Write Something” Box under “Wall”.  Here, you can choose to share a photo, and then add the required information about the recipe.
